Gareth Williams, Conservative candidate to be our next MP, is delighted the Government is listening and acting to protect our greenbelt. As the only person in the history of Buckinghamshire to have expanded the greenbelt, Gareth was the ideal person to represent residents' concerns directly to Planning Minister Lucy Frazer.
Gareth said, “Thanks to the thousands of people in Chesham and Amersham who have told me, on the doorsteps and through my survey, how important preserving the greenbelt is to us. I was very glad that the minister heard what we had to say. I'm delighted to say that Government are listening and taking action. Ministers are now proposing that greenbelt will not need to be altered if this is the only way to meet housebuilding targets. It is right we provide housing for future generations, but the pressure to concrete over swathes of our countryside will no longer be there.”
As a board member of Chiltern’s Conservation Board and Buckinghamshire Council Cabinet member for the Environment and Climate Change, Gareth is ideally qualified to represent your interests and defend our precious natural heritage.
